Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Operations Manager to join our Facilities Management team. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in the field and will be responsible for overseeing a team of 4 engineers and 2 Supervisors across two sites. This role requires a strong leader with excellent technical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Technical Operations Manager will lead the day-to-day technical operations, review and improve building engineering effectiveness by developing processes and creating innovative approaches for improvement across the account. The contract portfolio consists of 2 buildings. You will manage all the direct reports and subcontracted resources as necessary and liaise with client representatives throughout maintenance tasks. Reporting into the Account Director, you will be pivotal in engaging and managing key stakeholder relationships including managing multi-disciplinary teams. Playing a key role in the audit process you will be experienced in technical compliance, statutory requirements, management information and reporting. As a people manager, you will manage both sub-contractors and internal employees, ensuring high levels of delivery within set KPI's.
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead and manage a team of 4 engineers and 2 Supervisors , providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
- Full responsibility for all aspects of Technical Facilities Management within your area of responsibility in Accordance to contractual obligations.
- Ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance and reactive work orders are administrated from conception to completion in-line with required contracted Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure complete adherence to contractual obligations, specifications and requirements, client and company Key Performance Indicators & Service Level Agreements.
- Ensure complete adherence to Statutory and Mandatory Legislation compliance in Health & Safety and Environmental legislation and all Mitie, and customers' policies and procedures
- To continuously develop and improve the quality of the services provided, in accordance to company and client objectives.
- Taking direct responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself, your team and others who may be affected by Mitie work activities.
- Ensure all services are managed within company policies and procedures.
- To provide inspirational role-model management and leadership at all levels, acting by example.
- To recruit, induct, train, develop and motivate your team of technicians and handymen, creating internal succession and business continuity plans.
- To manage all aspects of people management, including conflict, grievance and disciplinary in-line with company processes and policies.
- Taking direct responsibility for the Health and Safety of yourself, your team and others who may be affected by Mitie work activities.
- To recruit, induct, train, develop and motivate your team of technicians and handymen, creating internal succession and business continuity plans.
- Build and maintain a working relationship with engineers and client team.
- Promote and ensure health and safety is never compromised.
- Issue all the relevant permits and ensure planned works are progressed in a timely manner.
- Review and approve all RAMS.
- Implement a positive health and safety culture and ensure all staff comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Responsible and take ownership for all technical statutory compliance
- Working closely with the Account Director, as a key member of the management team, managing all aspects of mechanical and electrical services.
- Managing all operational and maintenance activities, to ensure work is executed in a safe and suitable manner and complies with SLA's
- Make technical decisions, and provide suitably detailed reports to key stakeholders.
- Ensure the team's paperwork is up to date and correctly completed.
- Ensure that site Log Books are in place and used correctly on all sites and are audited regularly
- Carry out safety inspections as and when required in line with Quality Procedures
- Ensure and monitor good quality workmanship and discipline
- Carry out Health and Safety Tool Box Talks and equivalent training either on-line or in person, and ensure all QHSE Communications are communicated to all staff and are available to them to read. And ensure the contract staff complete Work Safe Home Safe training requirements
- Carry out investigations into near misses, accidents and H&S breaches and produce detailed reports if required.
- To continually promote and support a “team spirit” within the maintenance team. To recognise the importance of the teamwork in achieving the departmental objectives and to contribute effectively.
- Identify additional training needs of current staff to improve team capability and contract delivery.
To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
Qualifications:
- Qualified to degree level or M&E Trade Qualifications or equivalent experience in similar role.
- Excellent technical skills in mechanical and electrical systems and knowledge of general building repairs and maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to culture and maintain client confidence.
- Excellent Customer Service experience preferably with an emphasis on dealing with customers and clients both face to face, through email and over the phone.
- A professional attitude in all areas of the job role with the ability to challenge issues comprehensively and resolve them effectively.
- Strong leadership skills.
- An ability to work efficiently within a team as well as under their own initiative in a demanding environment where accuracy is paramount.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Strong technical knowledge of facility systems and maintenance procedures.
