Job Title: Security Officer
Location: Westgate Oxford
Reports To: Security Manager
Job Type: Part Time (Saturday and Sunday 12:00-20:00)
Pay Rate: £13.47 per hour
Job Purpose:
To protect property, assets, staff, and the public by maintaining a safe and secure environment through regular patrols, monitoring, and incident response. The Security Officer plays a key role in preventing loss, reducing risks, and upholding site safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of the premises.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and access control systems.
- Control access to buildings and restricted areas for staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances or suspicious behaviour.
- Prevent unauthorized access, theft, vandalism, and other criminal activity.
- Complete accurate and detailed incident, shift, and handover reports.
- Provide a visible and professional presence to deter anti-social behaviour.
- Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support.
- Liaise with emergency services when necessary.
- Follow company/site policies and procedures at all times.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, and security breaches.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid SIA Licence (or local equivalent certification).
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
- High level of vigilance and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies.
- Physically fit and able to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Professional appearance and demeanour.
Desirable:
- Experience in a similar security role or customer-facing environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Work Conditions:
- Work will involve exposure to outdoor weather.
- May involve standing or patrolling for long periods.
