Mobile Mechanical / Electrical Engineer (Domestic & Commercial Plumbing Bias) – TfL Surface Contract
ROLE: Mobile Mechanical / Electrical Engineer (Domestic & Commercial Plumbing Bias)
HOURS: 40 hours per week

We are currently looking for a motivated, professional, and safety-conscious Mobile Mechanical / Electrical Engineer (Domestic & Commercial Plumbing Bias) to join our growing engineering team supporting the Transport for London Surface contract.
This role is primarily focused on domestic and commercial plumbing and mechanical building services, whilst also requiring a basic understanding of associated electrical and building services systems. The successful candidate will support an existing team of engineering professionals delivering daily Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and remedial works across a diverse portfolio of operational and critical client sites throughout London.
Role Responsibilities
Undertake inspection, maintenance, fault finding, and repair across domestic and commercial plumbing and mechanical building services installations.
Carry out maintenance and remedial works associated with:
Domestic and commercial plumbing systems
Pumps
Expansion vessels
Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs)
Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs)
Small hot water systems
Drainage systems and sanitaryware
HVAC plant and associated mechanical services
Support basic electrical fault finding and safe isolation procedures associated with mechanical plant and building services equipment.
Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities in line with SFG20 standards, statutory compliance, Water Hygiene requirements, and relevant Approved Codes of Practice (ACoP).
Support the wider engineering team in maintaining safe, compliant, and operationally critical environments across the TfL Surface estate.
Diagnose faults and complete remedial repairs in a safe and timely manner.
Accurately complete all work-related documentation including Work Record Sheets (WRS), inspection reports, and remedial records.
Communicate professionally with clients, site representatives, and internal stakeholders, ensuring a high standard of customer service at all times.
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation, permits to work, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Domestic Plumbing & Heating and/or Commercial Plumbing Services (or equivalent recognised UK qualification)
City & Guilds qualification in Plumbing & Heating or Mechanical Engineering
Water Hygiene / ACoP L8 Awareness qualification (Essential)
Unvented Hot Water Systems qualification (G3)
Valid UK Driving Licence
CSCS Card or equivalent Health & Safety certification
Desirable Qualifications
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
IPAF and/or PASMA certification
IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
Essential Experience
Proven experience working within a Facilities Maintenance or Building Services environment.
Demonstrable experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of:
Domestic and commercial plumbing systems
Small hot water vessels
Sanitaryware, taps, and associated pipework
TMVs and water hygiene controls
Pumps and associated mechanical equipment
HVAC and general mechanical plant
General reactive and remedial maintenance works
Basic understanding of electrical safety and isolation procedures associated with mechanical plant.
Good working knowledge of SFG20, ACoP L8, and statutory compliance requirements.
Experience working within occupied commercial or operational environments.
Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively within a wider engineering team.
