An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Mobile Authorised Person, to join Mitie working on the MoD's FDIS contract in South West Scotland. The successful candidate will join a small team of Multi-skilled engineers, responsible for implementing and managing the application MoD's Safe System of Work in accordance with JSP 375. Discipline specific training (to JSP 375) will be given to the successful candidate.

The following disciplines are covered:

  • Electrical (HV, LV, Haz Areas)
  • Mechanical & Pressure Systems
  • Working at Height
  • Petroleum
  • Confined Spaces

Particular emphasis is focused on Electrical and Mechanical disciplines so previous experience, education and formal qualification in either (or both) fields would be beneficial. As would experience of operating similar safe systems or permit to work systems.  Proficiency with MS Office software is also desirable.

The role is mobile and will be based at DM Beith, Ayrshire, and will cover sites in the Southwest region of Scotland. The Mobile Authorised Person will be required to participate in an on call rota 24/7/365.

The new starter will be required to undertake and maintain Security Clearance to SC level.

A company car is provided for the role. In accordance with Mitie's commitment to reduce fleet carbon emissions, the car will be an EV type vehicle.

What we are looking for?

  • An engineer looking to step 'off the tools', and develop supervisory and managerial skills.
  • Engineering experience, and formal qualifications, ideally in the Mechanical and/or Electrical discipline.
  • Experience of the application of safety rules, safe systems of work, permit to work systems.
  • Communicates effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and plan resources effectively to ensure milestones, deadlines and targets are met.
  • Ability to promote and sustain a team culture and shared responsibility through effective leadership, stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Effective motivator who can drive excellence through clear and effective direction, delegation and decision making.

 

What will you be doing in your new role?

  • Review, develop and create robust risk assessments and method statements in conjunction with specialist contractors for high risk engineering activities.
  • Identify the requirement for, and produce high quality safety documents in line with the requirements of JSP375.
  • Ensure timely completion of mandatory training relevant to the role, and in accordance with the company training matrix.
  • Manage the application of JSP375 safe system of work, and manage the delivery of planned preventative maintenance, remedial and project work for assigned tasks.
  • Monitor performance against clear objectives, ensuring milestones and targets are met by the required time frames.
  • Champion health and safety across the region and lead by example.
  • Work closely with sub-contractors, site teams, project teams and business partners to plan and deliver planned and response work safely and efficiently.
