Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Total Weekly Contractual Hours: 37.5
Location: GSK, Shewalton Road, Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland, KA11 5AP

We have an opening to support our pharmaceutical client within the North Ayrshire area, offering laboratory support working within an integrated environment and with a well established team. A fantastic opportunity for an individual seeking experience in a laboratory environment or change in career.

The Lab Support Assistant role involves a range of responsibilities aimed at maintaining smooth operations in the lab environment. Key tasks include stock management, eluent preparation, stores management, and handling retained samples and customer order preparation. The assistant will also be involved in stability sampling, raw material sampling, waste management, cleaning laboratory equipment and glassware, and performing equipment calibrations and functionality testing. Additionally, the role includes porterage, administration tasks, tubewriting, and providing backfill support for the PS lab.

In terms of key accountabilities, the Lab Support Assistant is responsible for ensuring tasks are completed according to schedule, avoiding any negative impact on production. The role requires adherence to the ALCOA+ principles (attributable, legible, contemporaneous, original, and accurate) and maintaining a 100% completion rate in MyLearning and the Mitie Learning Hub. Flexibility is required to cover any activities that support plant production.

The ideal candidate will possess attention to detail and the ability to work methodically within strict processes and procedures. While experience in a GxP or regulatory environment is preferred, it is not essential. Previous experience in stock management or warehouse environments is desirable, and familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems would be advantageous but not mandatory. The candidate should also be PC literate, particularly in Office and Excel, and able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong communication skills are important, along with the ability to challenge behaviors and drive continuous improvement. The candidate must be able to perform under pressure and work independently without supervision.

The role will require to support the 24/7 nature of the business, as a result weekends and bank holidays will require to be covered on occasion as per business needs.
