Communications Manager
HMP Millsike, York - Full Time
We're looking for a creative and strategic Internal Communications Manager to lead our internal messaging and employee engagement efforts across our team at HMP Millsike. In this role, you'll shape how we communicate across the organisation—ensuring our people feel informed, connected, and inspired.
You'll be responsible for developing and delivering communication strategies that support our culture, values, and business goals. From managing digital platforms to supporting leadership messaging, you'll play a key role in strengthening our internal community.
What are the main responsibilities?
You will develop and implement internal communication strategies that align with organisational goals keeping our colleagues and prisoners on site informed. You will also:
- Create engaging content for a range of channels including intranet, newsletters, and digital platforms.
- Support leadership communication and change initiatives with clear, consistent messaging.
- Measure the impact of communications through feedback and analytics.
What do you need to be successful?
You will need experience working within a Communications role specifically within an internal function within a large or complex structured organisation, ideally public sector. You will also:
- Hold strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
- Proficiency in M365 tools, including MS Teams, SharePoint, and Canva, is essential
- Have experience working within the public sector and ideally within a prison environment
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ideally hold a degree or equivalent in Communications
