Main Purpose of Role

 

The HV Electrical Engineer is responsible for the management and delivery of Maintenance, Remedial and Project activities on customer network sites and providing Engineering (SAP) support to Major Project construction schemes, working alongside the Major Projects team.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Actively deliver HV Maintenance, Remedial and Project activities, being the primary contact for matters arising. Ensure activities are delivered in a safe, cost-effective manner, to a high standard, in accordance with appropriate legislation and to agreed work programmes.
  2. Provide support into the planning of construction activities, working closely with the Project Manager, to identify the events which bring new equipment “on rules”. Target the efficient construction of networks in a manner that minimises electrical risk and the requirement for LV Authorised Person / HV Senior Authorised Person input.
  3. Demonstrate effective individual and collective Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) leadership and promote an enthusiastic and growth minded culture.
  4. Manage HSQE matters proactively in accordance with the business policy statement, corporate guidelines and legislation.
  5. Organise teams to ensure that activities meet key deliverables.
  6. Maintain “Senior Authorised Person” status by ensuring that key training, audit and record keeping requirements are met.
  7. Responsible for ensuring safe management and systems of work are deployed by all personnel and accountable for establishing effective controls of activities.
  8. Ensure company procedures are followed during the execution of all Customer Networks activities.
  9. Compile Risk Assessments and Method statements, complete audits and site inspections as appropriate assessing against HSQE benchmarks.

10.  Actively support tendering process by carrying out site surveys, pricing and scope writing to agreed timescales.

  1. Produce regular reports to senior management, including benchmarking against key performance indicators and a summary of the progress against business objectives.

12.  Establish working relationships with supply chain representatives to execute projects efficiently

  1. Carry out factory inspections as required and manage witnessing and inspections during the commissioning phase of works.
  2. Take part in the Senior Authorised Persons standby rota and provide initial fault response as required to meet customer needs.
  3. Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members, assisting them in meeting their own objectives

Job Context/ Key Challenges

Working within the busy Customer Networks Team reporting to the Customer Networks Manager, whilst working effectively to provide outstanding customer service to customers during and key stakeholders during work activities. The postholder will have the ability to communicate at all levels and build strong, positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The ability to communicate at all levels and build strong working relationships is therefore a key requirement of this role.

People: Work with stakeholders to include customers and contractors and presenting to clients of all levels

 

Qualifications and Experience

In addition, you will need to demonstrate:

·          Qualification (Minimum Level 4 (HNC) or Level 3 (NVQ) with significant experience as a Senior/Authorised Person.

·          Familiarity with a wide range of High Voltage switchgear manufacturers/types/ages.

·          Demonstrable knowledge of industry standard High Voltage operation and maintenance processes.

·          Minimum 3 years' experience as an AP/SAP on 11kV Networks (33kV experience desirable).

·        Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel.

·        Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
