Hospitality and Floristry Tutor - HIRC £31,585 per annum 40 hours per week Job objectives and responsibilities |
· To proactively promote, design, as necessary, and deliver workshops in relevant creative skills including Floristry, cake decorating, ballooncraft, arts and craft activities to meet the needs of the residents and contractual requirements. · To provide a safe, secure, stimulating, supportive and productive environment for residents that encourages them to attend and enables them to learn and develop their skills.

Main duties and accountabilities |
· Provide a short induction to residents welcoming them to the classroom to encourage their participation and ensure that the activities provided is relevant and interesting. · Work proactively with staff and residents to provide artistic support for cultural events within the Centre. · Develop, promote and deliver a range of creative workshops enabling residents to gain useful transferable skills. · Develop, promote and deliver a range of activities, competitions, events and projects supporting and encouraging all learners to enable them to achieve their learning objectives. · Actively promote the opportunities available to ensure residents are informed and there is optimal uptake. · Create and maintain a safe, secure, positive and friendly learning environment where residents feel welcomed and respected. · Monitor attendance, retention and achievement figures and assist in the development of strategies and procedures and make improvements to maximise these. · Ensure the completion of all documentation and administration in line with company policies and any external agency requirements so that accurate, compliant data is maintained and provided. · Use all resources effectively to ensure quality of service and value for money. · Manage the learning environment ensuring maintenance and security of tools and equipment at all times to relevant standards. · Advise on equipment and purchases necessary to meet contractual requirements and best practice within education. · Support Regimes covering other areas as required to ensure continuity of service. · Undertake further duties to support the Regimes department and the delivery of relevant vocational courses as required. |
Person Specification |
· In-depth knowledge of creative techniques is required. · Previous teaching experience within a related subject is required. · Experience of delivering relevant creative skills workshops/training would be advantageous · A relevant teaching qualification would be advantageous. · Experience within the custodial setting would be advantageous. · Experience of working with ESOL learners would be advantageous and a patient and understanding attitude to the language problems faced by learners essential.
