District Heating Boiler Plant Engineer (74499)

Job Overview

  • The routine operation and maintenance of the industrial boiler equipment, district heating substations and outstation Boiler plant equipment around MPC. Conducting and co-ordinate the planned preventative maintenance, statutory tests and repairs works

 

Main Duties

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the 5x Cochran boilers and associated MTHW systems at the MPC.

  •  

     Responsible for the operation and maintenance of outstation boilers and associated systems around MPC.

  •  Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the MPC steam laundry plant equipment and associated systems.

  • Conduct/co-ordinate reactive repairs to all equipment associated systems detailed.

  •  

     Assist the AP Mechanical with the isolation of systems for work to be conducted under a permit to work safe system of works.

  •  

     Ensure that all maintenance and associated works within the areas of responsibility are carried out and completed in accordance with the Mitie and MoD contracted processes.

  •  

     Organise work to minimise lost time, or non-productive time and maximise cost savings. · Carry out on call duties for out of hours cover for the MPC boiler plant equipment and associated systems.

  •   Work in accordance with contract deliverables, statutory requirements, manufacturers recommendations and MoD Safety Rules & Procedures (SRP's)

  •  

     Assist with the production valid risk assessments, and method statements.

  •  

     Assist with the production of method statements and all other safe system of work forms for annually programmed tasks, also assist with the planning/programming of these tasks.

  •  

     Qualify for entry in Skilled Persons register.

  •  

     Maintain records, labour records and appropriate job sheets for all tasks completed.

  •  

     Carry out any other duties as directed by your line manager or the management team.

 

What we are looking for

    Qualifications /

  •  

    Training · Educated to GCSE or equivalent. 

  •  Approved apprenticeship in mechanical engineering discipline

  • Knowledge &

    Experience

  •  

     Experience Cochran Boiler systems.

  • Experience of Siemens TIA Portal software control system. Version 15.1 preferred. 

  •  Experience with recognised H&S procedures.

  • Desireable
  • · Experience of working abroad. 
  •  Experience of an MOD environment
  • BOAS certificate.
  • Completion of boiler operator accreditation scheme course.
  •  Mechanical AP qualification.
  • Skills &

    Abilities

  •  

     Full driving license. 

  •  Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team. ·

  • Knowledge of Steam generating plant in the form of water tube boilers. 

  •  Knowledge of MTHW fire tube boilers.

  • Personal Qualities

  •  

     Enthusiastic and flexible approach. 

  •  Self motivated team member with ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  •  Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
