Job objectives and responsibilities
The role involves leading on menu development, service offering, and the overall environment, creating fit-for-purpose solutions across the business. It includes delivering and enhancing services for Mitie Healthcare by taking full ownership, acting promptly, and upholding high-quality standards. The position is responsible for achieving and ideally exceeding budgeted targets. It requires planning meals, menus, themed days, and special offers to ensure patients receive adequate information. Supervisors serve as quality control by ensuring customer satisfaction, properly training employees, and strictly adhering to company policies. The role entails supervising, encouraging, and supporting team members to ensure company standards are consistently met, directing employees in their daily tasks, and interacting with customers to guarantee an exceptional experience. It is essential to ensure all food is prepared correctly and safely in accordance with HACCP regulations and to manage inventory effectively to support stock control protocols. Compliance with all food safety requirements is mandatory, along with strict adherence to all company policies and procedures, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of oneself and others. The role also includes delivering the budgeted profit and turnover for areas of responsibility and supporting the development and control of contract budgets with clear margin expectations. It requires setting, measuring, and interpreting appropriate targets and objectives based on criteria agreed upon with the patient catering manager. Workload must be organized, divided, and delegated into manageable activities based on expertise and focus areas while tracking completion levels to meet milestones successfully. Main duties
The role requires full compliance with all Mitie Healthcare requirements and the identification of training needs within the catering operation, with the appropriate training delivered through effective collaboration with the Training Manager. It is essential that all team members adhere to COSHH, HACCP, and QHSE regulations, and that proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards are followed throughout food preparation, service, and clean-up processes. Responsibilities include the costing and nutritional evaluation of meals and menus to provide balanced and varied food options, while ensuring all allergen information is clearly displayed and readily available to customers for each product made on site. The role also involves maintaining and troubleshooting kitchen equipment, ensuring supplies are available, performing preventative maintenance, and arranging repairs when necessary. All food must be stored safely and at legally required temperatures. Clear and specified communication lines must be followed at all times, particularly in escalation and problem-reporting scenarios. All colleagues are to be trained in line with both client and company requirements, addressing both hard and soft skills. The role requires identifying and developing talented individuals across teams and sites to support their career aspirations, building a strong pipeline of future successors. This includes the use of internal HR systems and people support services to encourage best practices and fulfill management responsibilities. The role also entails effective control over payroll and absence management to minimise disruption and protect team engagement. Comprehensive cost analysis must be conducted for all menus and catering operations, including the ordering, receipt, and storage of goods. The role includes additional duties as needed by the contract, ensuring adequate staffing levels across departments in line with specifications and demand. They have a solid command of both literacy and numeracy, alongside an intermediate knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages and full competence in the use of PCs and other technology.
