Detainee Custody Officer – Luton Airport

Working as a DCO within our team will provide you with the opportunity to maintain high standards of security and safety whilst promoting the welfare and decency of residents. This is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. As you gain experience within this challenging role, we'll support you throughout your time to grow and develop.    Your new role as an Airport based DCO will be to escort and support immigration residents whilst they are in our care at the Airport Holding Room.

•  £31,531.29 based on 42 Hours per week, fixed shift pattern.
• Full flexibility will be required as this is a 24- hour service, 365 days a year. Your rolling shift pattern will cover both days and nights.

Previous experience of dealing with sensitively in a wide variety of people who have been agitated, confused or angry would be an advantage. Excellent problem-solving skills in addition to having the ability to keep calm under pressure will be key to developing your Care & Custody career.  

Training    Once you have passed our selection and vetting process, you'll begin your Care & Custody career completing a 6-week initial training course (ITC), continuing your development over the next 12 months with on the job mentoring and assessments to gain our accredited Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody.

Please note that although the role is based at Luton Airport, you may be asked to provide cover on other In Country Escorting contracts. 

NB: in order to apply you must be eligible for CTC clearance. You must have a valid British passport, EU passport with Share Code, no criminal convictions, and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 3 years with no extended trips overseas in that period.
