Job: Data Centre Day Shift Enginner

Location: National Grid|Wokingham

Salary: 47,820 - 50,820

Hours: 7am-3pm | 4 days on 4 days off

In this role, you will operate, maintain, and repair systems in collaboration with a building management system. You will identify, diagnose, and rectify faults using technical drawings and the Building Management System (BMS). A strong understanding of electrical installation and testing in accordance with BS 7671 is required.

Your responsibilities also include assisting in the planning and implementation of new projects, refurbishing, and upgrading existing facilities and services. You will supervise contractors, induct them, issue an Authority to Work, carry out risk assessments, method statements, and manage safe working practices. Furthermore, you will monitor, repair, and maintain Building Services equipment related to heating, ventilation, lighting, air conditioning, and refrigeration, as well as HV switchgear and transformers, UPS systems, diesel generators, and the associated distribution systems.

Additionally, you will perform operation and first-line maintenance of CCTV security surveillance systems, access control systems, power-operated gates and barriers, perimeter security, and intruder alarm systems.

What we are looking for

Core Skills:

  • Completed a time served electrical apprenticeship
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regs
  • Must be familiar with LPHW systems
  • Must have knowledge of ACOP L8.

Tools of the Trade:

  • HNC in Building Services or other related discipline.
  • C&G 2391 electrical Testing and Inspection certificate.
  • Trend 963 qualification or equivalent.
  • IOSH Health and Safety Certificate.
  • HV experience/AP
  • Confined spaces AP,
  • PTW experience
  • Experience of the control of contractors

Skills and Personal Qualities:

  • Regards personal and plant safety as priority.
  • Driving Licence holder.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and as an individual.
  • Ability to record work accurately, both on work sheets and computer based systems.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in task audits/near miss reporting/plant audits etc.
  • To work overtime as and when required, weekends - flexibility.
