Job Overview
- We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Building Surveyor with experience across both domestic and commercial properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building services, mechanical, and electrical systems, as well as a proven ability to produce detailed scopes of work and construction drawings. Main Duties

· Conduct detailed surveys of both domestic and commercial buildings, identifying defects, structural issues, and opportunities for improvement.
· Prepare comprehensive reports, including condition assessments, recommendations for repairs, and suggested improvements.
· Write clear and detailed scopes of work for building repairs, maintenance, and renovation projects.
· Produce accurate and well-structured construction drawings, ensuring all designs adhere to industry standards and client specifications.
· Provide expert advice on building regulations, compliance, and legislation to ensure all work meets legal requirements and best practice standards.
· Experience working on MOD estates and understanding of JSP (desirable)
· Conduct inspections of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, and other critical systems, and provide recommendations for maintenance, upgrades, or replacement.
· Collaborate with contractors, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
· Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
· Undertake assessments of building performance, including energy efficiency, and advise on energy-saving measures or improvements.
· Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the surveying and project management process.
· Assist in the preparation of tender documents and contract administration for building projects.
What we are looking for

· Proven experience as a Building Surveyor with focus on both domestic and commercial properties.
· Experience in building services, mechanical, or electrical systems (HVAC, lighting, power, etc.) Essential
· Strong knowledge of building regulations, surveying standards, and construction practices.
· Ability to produce detailed, accurate scopes of work for building projects, ensuring clarity and adherence to client specifications and requirements.
· Proven ability to produce construction drawings, detailing specifications for contractors (desirable).
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Proficiency in using building surveying software, AutoCAD, and other relevant design or reporting tools.
· Degree in Building Surveying, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
· Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is advantageous but not essential.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
· Previous experience producing construction drawings and working with design teams.
· In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and their integration in building designs.
· Familiarity with sustainability and energy efficiency best practices in building design and operations.
